Chapitre. 1: A World of Beginnings

Syaoran gets home from the archaeological dig, and is almost immediately greeted by the princess, Sakura. Sakura is upset that Syaoran calls her "your highness" and forces him to call her "Sakura". He unwillingly agrees. They exchanged a few words, and just as Sakura was getting ready to tell him that she loved him, the castle bell rang, meaning she had to get home. Syaoran watches her leave, asking his father (who is dead) if what he is feeling can ever be carried out. She is a princess, he is a commoner, and there can never be anything between them, he thinks.

Back at the castle, King Touya has some fun teasing Syaoran and making Sakura angry. It turns out that the ruins the archaeologists are excavating are more than just what can be seen. There is much more underneath, Touya says, while teasing Sakura and telling her that Syaoran will be busy for a long time. Sakura yells back that it will make Syaoran happy and runs out of the room.

Now that Yukito the high priest and Touya are alone, Touya asks that they "drop the formalities". He is also a bit irked that Syaoran is destined for Sakura, as Yukito predicted. Yukito makes a few more predictions, saying that Sakura has a strong and unusual power that can change the world, and that she and Syaoran have adversity ahead because of it.

Out on the balcony, Sakura notes that the ruins look beautiful. She decides to bring lunch to him the next day so that she can tell him that she loves him. All of a sudden, she hears a bell-like sound coming from the ruins, calling to her. As if being pulled by some magical force, she starts floating towards the ruins. Visions of buildings, structures, and symbols that she doesn't understand flash before her eyes, and finally, she sees a distraught Syaoran. Gasping, the spell seems to be broken and she floats back down. She asks herself if it really was Syaoran.

The next day, in the ruins, Syaoran finds himself standing on some magnificent markings. Sakura suddenly appears, holding lunch. Syaoran worries for her safety. Sakura recognizes the markings, claiming she saw them the night before. Suddenly, the symbol on the ground is activated, and all life disappears from Sakura's eyes. The ground opens up and Sakura levitates off the ground.

In another part of the ruins, where Touya and Yukito are, the ruins start breaking away and throngs of armed men appear out of nowhere. Touya pulls out his sword.

Suddenly, wings sprout from Sakura, while Syaoran watches in worry, anxiety, and awe. In an unknown world, a man notes that a power has been reborn.

Syaoran struggles to get to Sakura, who is being engulfed by powers unknown. He grabs her from harm's way, but many forms of the unknown escape her body as the walls crumble from above.

In that same unknown world, a woman asks the man, "It didn't work, did it?" He answers that it is only the beginning and that when all is done, he will have "a power that spans universes".

Syaoran finds himself in another part of the ruins. Slaughtered men lay everywhere. An injured Touya appears, and Yukito explains that the king was hit with a poison arrow and that he would never let the king die. Syaoran tries to tell Yukito all that happened, but Yukito reads his memory. "The princess's wings have taken flight." He explains that the wings and heart are one, and all of Sakura's memories are missing from the world. Yukito sends the two, with his magical powers, to the time-space witch and tells Syaoran to beg her to help the princess.

They finally land in the destined dimension. A woman dressed in elaborate garments appears before them. Syaoran asks if she is the time-space witch. She replies that she has been called that. Syaoran then asks for her to save Sakura.
