I can’t lose you
(Song: Underneath by Jessica Simpson)
(Scene: The opening scene for the manga, Tsubasa)
A hand reaches out towards another, as though they were about to touch. Slowly both hands are now placed against that glass wall, unbreakable…
Syaoran watched as the girl he loved so much placed her hands on that glass wall and cried. Instinctively, he placed his hands on that glass wall, too. But that glass became a border… an obstruction that had been made impossible to overcome.
Devastation now gripped Syaoran, as reality sank deep into his heart. He was going to lose her… After all his attempts to save her… he was going to lose her…
In anger, he clenched his fists and began to beat against that glass wall, that obstruction. He had to save her. She’s in terrible danger. He can’t lose her… his childhood friend, his princess…
His most precious person…
Sometimes it's hard when you're so deep inside
To see all you can lose in a blink of an eye
Dreams could be shattered
You could be gone
How would I survive
Cause you're where I belong
My soul-believer
Without you, I don't know who I would be
Even if he did succeed in saving her, she would forget him. But at that moment, it didn’t matter. At that moment, it was the last thing in his mind. Beating against that glass wall, his futile attempt, his desire to protect her grew like never before. His desire blocked all the pain foreseen, his desire blinded him from the dangers around him, and his desire numbed his breaking heart…
I can’t lose you…
Underneath, I can feel you move through me
Inside out, you surround me
I breathe you like I'm taking my last breath
Oh, you're everything I know
So how could I let you go?
Sakura continued to cry as she watched Syaoran beat tirelessly against that wall. “Syaoran-kun, stop…” she cried, although she knew he couldn’t her throughout the commotion. “There’s nothing you can do… but I’m so scared…” she confessed.
Sakura was so scared now, that she really wanted that glass wall to disappear. She wanted to hide into those arms, those arms that had protected her countless times before. Ever so much she wanted to know why it made her feel so. Throughout the whole journey, she felt secure whenever he’s around.
She suspected many things, maybe he knew more than what she knows yet he would not tell her. Many times she had searched deep in her heart to find reasons, but whenever she tried she felt like she was facing a brick wall that was built to block her from finding out.
Sometimes I listen to a voice that isn't mine
I disconnect from everything inside
And I have made choices
And wasted all the days
I could have been with you
Where my heart stayed
I know you've waited faithfully
Blessing our love even stronger
But she could sense a stranger in her heart she knew she placed so lovingly before. That stranger gave the same feeling it does whenever she was around Syaoran. No matter how she tried to connect it, it all became senseless.
For right now, she’s purely regretting not being able to love him or some reason…
Underneath, I can feel you move through me Inside out, you surround me I breathe you like I'm taking my last breath Oh, you're everything I know So how could I let you go?
For a second, the both of them realize how lucky they were to have known each other. One felt so loved while the other remembers being loved. For a second, they felt blessed. Until another commotion settled in and reality pulled them from their momentary bliss.
This can’t be the end…
And I've been blessed
For every kiss
For every breath
(How could I let you down)
And I've been touched,
By hands I trust
My love is risen
And then Sakura felt that sensation on her back, she moaned as her wings sprouted. Syaoran panicked… this was it. He was going to lose her…
No, he suddenly thought. I won’t lose her. She’s a part of me, I will not let that happen.
Sakura screamed as she stretched her hands out to hold those hands that had helped her so many times before, but this time the obstruction ensured this was not going to happen. Her wings brought her off the ground, and began to take her away. Syaoran-kun… her mind screamed. Save me!
Syaoran wanted so much to grab those hands and pull her towards him, but it was too late. Those wings brought her further away from him as the glass wall remained as the obstruction. No, he thought devastatingly, I won’t let her go! I won’t let her go!
Underneath, I can feel you move through me
Inside out, you surround me
I breathe you like I'm taking my last breath
Oh, you're everything I know
So how could I let you
How could I let you go?
In vain, he screamed, “SAKURA—!!!”
